Privacy policy
Last updated 4 September 2026
This policy explains what howtomodminecraft.com collects, who else is involved, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive.
The short version
This site has no accounts, no logins, no comments and no newsletter. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no database of users. What exists is analytics, which tells us which pages get read, and advertising, which may be added and which sets cookies of its own.
What is collected directly
Nothing you type, because there is nowhere to type anything. If you email the contact address, that email exists in an inbox — that is a normal email rather than a collection mechanism, and it is not added to any list.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages are useful and where people give up.
- Google Analytics 4 records pages visited, approximate location from IP (country or city level, not an address), device and browser type, referral source, and how long pages are read. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage.
- Microsoft Clarity records anonymised interaction data — scrolling, clicks, and aggregate heatmaps — used to find pages where people get stuck. Text you type into any field is masked by default.
Neither is used to identify individuals, and neither has any way to do so on a site with no accounts. If you would rather not be counted, browser tracking protection, an ad blocker, or Google’s own opt-out add-on all work.
Advertising
The site may display advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads.
- Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's Ads Settings, or through aboutads.info for participating vendors more broadly.
- In regions requiring consent, a consent prompt is shown before non-essential cookies are set, and your choice is respected and remembered.
- Content likely to be viewed by children is marked as such, which restricts advertising to non-personalised, contextual ads.
Because Minecraft has a young audience, the child-directed treatment matters here in practice rather than as boilerplate. Where content is marked child-directed, personalised advertising and remarketing are disabled for it.
Children’s privacy
This site is a technical reference and is not directed at children under 13, though we recognise that Minecraft’s audience skews young and that younger readers will arrive here.
No personal information is knowingly collected from anyone under 13. There is no mechanism on this site through which a child could submit personal information — no forms, no accounts, no comments. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information, contact us and it will be deleted.
Cookies
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to distinguish sessions. Not used for advertising.
- Advertising cookies — set by advertising partners where advertising is active and where you have consented.
- There are no first-party cookies for login, preferences or personalisation, because none of those features exist.
Blocking cookies entirely will not break anything on this site. Every page is static content and works without them.
Outbound links
This site links out constantly — to Modrinth, CurseForge, mod authors’ pages, loader documentation and server hosts. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site under their privacy policy, not this one.
Where a link to a server host is an affiliate link, that is disclosed on the page and in the footer. Affiliate links may set a cookie recording that you arrived from here, so any commission is attributed correctly. That cookie identifies the referral, not you.
Your rights
Under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and similar regimes you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you, and to object to processing.
Practically, this site holds almost nothing to exercise those rights against. Analytics data is aggregated and cannot be traced back to an individual from our side. Requests concerning data held by Google or Microsoft are best made to them directly, since they are the controllers of it.
Anything you would like deleted from correspondence, or any question about this policy, goes to sukielovesupport@gmail.com.
Data retention and security
Analytics data is retained according to the defaults of the platforms involved — Google Analytics 4 retains event data for a limited period before aggregating it. Email correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful and deleted on request.
The site is served entirely over HTTPS. There is no user database to breach, which is the strongest security property a site can have.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially — a new analytics provider, an advertising network added — the date at the top changes and the change is described here rather than made silently.
